What a fun weekend we had at Conner's 6th birthday party! We had the party at the indoor water park in Shepherdsville: Pirate's Bay and boy was it a big hit with all the kids! I found some adorable pirate invites at Target complete with a real pirate patch and we typed up this cute little saying for the invite:
Ahoy Maties!
It's Captain Conner's 6th Birthday
Come be a part of our crew!
We would love to celebrate with you!

Happy 6th Birthday Conner

It is hard to believe in just a little over a week my little man is going to be 6 years old!!! Man how time flies! Conner is very excited to be celebrating his Pirate birthday party at Pirate's Bay at indoor water park this weekend! We are counting down the days and getting more excited by the minute as each little boy in his class calls to RSVP to the PARTY!!!

Another birthday means another birthday letter from Mommy so here it goes...

Dear Conner:

As I write this I wonder what kinds of things you would want to know about yourself if you read this 20 years from now. I want to lay out all my wishes for you. All my hopes and dreams. I want to tell you how much you've changed me, how much you've taught me in a 6 short years. Perhaps I've learned more in these past six years than in my entire lifetime. I could fill a book with it, but it would be nothing you'd want to read. It would be just one more reason for you to roll your eyes in later years and go moooooom.

I will try and keep the list short but here are a few of the things I love about you Conner:

I love how you are your Daddy’s son and together you explore the man's world of fishing neighborhood ponds, playing sports and early morning hunting trips.

I love how your worry about others, your loving nature, your inquisitive questions, your tears, your smiles, your loving nature.

I love how you look forward to going EVERYWHERE with your Daddy.

I love how you have already set your career goals: You want to be an engineer (“just like Daddy”), a farmer (“just like Uncle Dale and Uncle Jason”), or even perhaps a hunter. Whatever you may become I know you heart will always be true. You have a heart of gold Conner.

I love how your Daddy, your Pappy are two people you adore. Two wonderful role models, what more could a Mommy ask for for her son.

I love how your voice naturally rises a number of octaves when speaking to you sister Claire, "Sissy, do you want Bro Bro to help you."

Kennedy, however loud and domineering, is able to listen to your schemes and together you execute them with perfection. She is your parrot, repeating your words of wisdom.

Conner, you have taught me how to love really love and appreciate every day of being Mommy. You make this world a better place for being in it and I feel so honored to have been chosen to be your mother. You are so very special to me. You made me a mother for the very FIRST time and forever we are bound.

Happy 6th Birthday Little Man!

Love,
Mommy

A Taylor Easter

What a wonderful Easter we had! We feel so blessed to have 3 healthy happy kids!

Conner did NOT want to put on his dress clothes for the picture he wanted to wear his new UofL shirt the Easter Bunny brought so I decided to skip this battle and let him wear it...after all will it really matter 20 years from know what he wore? I think not!

We had a WONDERFUL dinner at Grancy's house and the cousins had a great time playing together!

Yes, it is true I let Claire have a chocolate bunny for breakfast! Once again, choose your battles!!!

April Fools Dinner

Tonight we celebrated April Fools Day with a very special dinner. The menu went as follows:

CUPCAKES: mini meat-loafs made in cupcake liners topped with mashed potatoes dyed blue with food coloring

FRENCH FRIES and KETCHUP: tiny bread sticks in french fry sleeves with strawberry jam

CHEETOS: boy were the kids surprised to find I had switched out the Cheetos for carrot sticks and resealed the bag with double sided tape

APPLES: with a gummy worm coming out of course

RED KOOL-AIDE: oh wait it was JELL-O, This trick was by far the kids favorite! They laughed hysterically at each other as you can imagine as each one tried to take a drink, sucking on the straw as hard as they could and nothing came out!

DIRT: our centerpiece served as dessert the pot of flowers was of course dirt cake topped with gummy worms

Of course our dinner was all laughs tonight! It doesn't take much to impress a 5, 4 and 1 year old but boy is it FUN at our house! Oh and I forgot to mention the whoopee cushions I put in the kids chairs...they were a HUGE hit! Hope you didn't get TRICKED on this April Fools Day! The Taylor Kids sure did!!!!
